Matching Gift Information
A matching gift is a donation made by a corporation or foundation on behalf of one of its employees. The donation matches (either in full or a percentage) the contribution made by the employee to a valid nonprofit organization.
Matching gifts are a vital resource for nonprofit orgnaizations because of the opportunity offered to double, triple or even quadruple an individual contribution.
Utilizing Matching Gift Programs
Research your employer’s matching gift policies. Ask your company’s Human Resources department whether they offer a matching gift program. If they do, find out the procedures and take advantage of your employer’s generosity. You can also ask the people who donate to you if their employers have matching gift programs.
