Take the Test, Take Control

Dear Friends:

Today, people all over the country will go to HIV testing events in support of National HIV Testing Day.  In Orange County, ASF is offering free, anonymous or confidential HIV testing to all individuals from noon to 8 p.m. at our Irvine office. Note: These hours refer to National HIV Testing Day, June 27, 2011, only.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Take the Test, Take Control”.  I can’t think of a better message to deliver in my initial posting on our new ASF web site.  Although there have been tremendous treatment advances, there is no cure for HIV disease.  The best way to prevent HIV is to know your status.  Get tested.

Like National Testing Day, our goal is to provide people with information to help them better understand HIV/AIDS.  For our clients and their families we provide knowledge and services to help them manage life with HIV.   For thousands of others we make prevention education available through “Positively Speaking” and other outreach efforts.

You can help send the prevention message too.  On the top navigation bar, click on Free HIV Testing and then email the page with testing sites, times and locations to your family and friends.

I hope you will take a few more minutes to explore our new site and let us know what you think.   Please send comments to mmontminy@ocasf.org.
