Why Get Tested?
Who should take an HIV test?
Anyone who thinks they
may have been exposed to HIV should take the test.
How can people become exposed
to HIV?
People can be come
exposed to HIV…
- If they or their partners
have ever had unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex.
- If they are the sex partner
of a man who has sex with men.
- If they are the sex
partner of an intravenous (I.V.) drug user.
- If they have sex for
drugs, money or other gifts.
- If they have shared unclean
needles.
Why should I care if my body
carries HIV?
Anyone who has HIV,
with or without symptoms, can transmit the virus on
to others. In order to protect yourself and prevent
its spread to others, especially loved ones, it is important
to know if you have been exposed to HIV.
