Our Story

A small group of volunteers founded AIDS Services Foundation Orange County (ASF) in the late summer of 1985 because people were dying, had nowhere to turn, and desperately needed help.  ASF is now the largest and most comprehensive nonprofit HIV/AIDS service provider in Orange County with a staff of 50 committed and caring individuals, a 22 member Board of Directors, an Advisory Council of 17 highly respected community leaders and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.

In fiscal year 2010, over 800 people volunteered 26,574 hours for ASF.  Based on the estimated dollar value of $23.42 an hour for volunteer time as established by Independent Sector, volunteers donated $622,363.08 in service to ASF.

Focused stewardship and engagement of volunteers are the key reasons why more than 80 cents of every dollar donated to ASF goes directly to help people affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County.
